Despedida de Jana
In the week before Carnaval the four of us who live in the Plaza de Mina flat received an e-mail from Ana, our landlady asking if we wanted to have a ‘Despedida de Jana’, she offered to make us all one of her paellas. We of course said yes! Who can turn down beautifully cooked paella? We arranged a date and time and we were all looking forward to it, especially when Geo decided to make her delicious bread for it. We set the table and bought some drinks as well as some ingredients so that Alice and Jana could make a strawberry tart for pudding. Ana was a little bit late although this was probably due to the hoards of people filling the streets for Carnaval. We ate as soon as she arrived and the paella and geo’s special bread were delicious as ever, there were even left overs for a couple of days which was great. We chatted about what we have been up to since our last house meal, it was great practise for my Spanish, as I haven’t had much chance to speak it over exams as I haven’t been out much. Ana also gave us some advice and tips about carnaval and checked that we had received the timetable that she e-mailed to us all earlier in the week. It reminded me again how lucky I am to have a great landlady that we get on with really well. It was also a great opportunity for us all to spend some time together before Jana has to return to Germany on 17th.
