Bucket lists
Having a goals is a way to ensure you will once reach them or change them to adapt the new situation. Having a travel bucket list is similar. It is a list of places to visit. Many travelers prefer the experience bucket list not a list of 'places I want to visit before I am 25/30/finish collage/die'. I believe that the point of traveling is not in visiting the cities and beaches and just trying to see as much as possible in the little time you have. It is about getting somewhere, taking it easy, exploring, getting lost and back on track again, talking with locals, trying new food, learning about their history, traditions and language (or at least some phrases that might or might not be useful). For that you need time and also a bit of a plan. With this in my mind I changed my (never writen) bucket list of places I wanted to visit into (writen) bucket list of experiences I want to gain from visiting foreign countries. Here it goes:
1. I want to travel somewhere without any plan at all, no booking of hostel, cheking which sights I need to see, what food I need to try, etc (basic checking on safety, currency and things like this are allowed)
2. I want to volunteer in another country and contribute to their improvement, while gaining experience and learning how to improve myself
3. I want to miss the plane home on purpose, because I like the place so much I don´t want to go home yet.
4. I want to spend a night in 5* hotel all inclusive and order a room service
5. I want to go sailing somewhere in Mediteranian sea. It doesn't really matter where and how long, I just want to spend a week on a boat with my friends and loved ones and have a great time doing that
6. I want to see the theater show on Broadway
7. I want to get colours all over my body at the Holi festival in India
8. I want to spend a night in a tent with campfire outside and sharing stories.
9. I want to visit all countries in Europe
10. I want to go to the jungle and survive it.
11. I want to go to Machu Pichu. (this is not just about visiting the place, it is mostly about getting there.)
That is my list for now. It is not finishied. It will probably never be finished and some of the things on it might not be done, but it is my goal now to be able to do all of these things and wish come across a new experiences to put them on this list.
What is your bucket list?
