About EB
At the age of 26, after achieving a degree in Foreign Languages at the University of Ferrara and a qualification in teaching Spanish which will probably prove useless (but that is another long, sad story), I decided to try my luck abroad. Thanks to the Comenius programme of the EU, which allows young teachers to do some practice in foreign schools, I ended up in Spain, near Barcelona, more exactly in a nice town on the sea called Vilanova i la Geltrù.
I have been living here for exactly two months, a period of time during which I have tried to make me familiar with the local culture and lifestyle, I have visited several interesting places of which I will give account, and I have tested me as an English and Italian teacher in a ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education) institute. At the same time, I could not help comparing my new life and the country I am getting accustomed to with the situation of my native land. Almost inevitably, this fact led me to draw some conclusions. That is the reason for which I have decided to begin my contribution with a peculiar entry regarding a piece of news which plays a great part in my following considerations.
