Blog: The Second Journey Of Open Erasmus
Tags: General

Hello friends, I'm really excited as the Erasmusu has made it happen all again by starting this wonderful Open Erasmusu Competition all again. I'm really thrilled to participate in this competition once again. I personally would like to start my journey in the second round of this competition by writing about all those memorable moments that I gained with lots of people around the globe by sharing a little bit of knowledge I had. I would actually say that this competition has made the poetic lines "Little drops of water makes a mighty Ocean" true. In other words all those little pieces of info we were able to put together served as a valuable resource for someone in some part of the world. Therefore rather to call it just as an competition I would say that this is something more, something that helps people all around the world to understand the planet they live in through real experiences, in short its a depository of knowledge and all those who participate in this are trying to expand their knowledge because knowledge is the only thing that keeps growing when you share it with others.

The first day when I heard about this competition that is being conducted by erasmusu there were plenty of questions running in my head. I had a keen interest on writing and when it came to a point that I had to write about my experiences and about my new life in new country I was really determined that I should participate in it. The first tdoubt that arouse within me was "Am I elgible to participate in this?" and  like any other I just mailed the organiser of this competition. I recieved a real quick and a kind reply but the thing that made me really excited is the content of the mail "OMG! I was eligible to participate in this competition.

I started to write right away but the time period for this competition was a kind of long and as days went by I had my college. The study load was hindering my interest to write. I hardly got  time to share my experiences with the world through this competiton. Thank God I had my holidays rushing to me whisphering into my ears that I got nothing to worry, and I have a month to spend time with my writing. I begin to explore my new city that I live in. I should give a special Thanks to erasmusu as this competition made me explore every bit of the city I live in. I explored its tradition, culture, architecture, gastronomy and what not?. I got time to mingle with people and involve myself more socially. Towards the end of this competition no one would believe me but yes, I was in a position to clarify any possible doubt about this city, Being a foreigner I guess this is something to be proud of! however, no offense guys.

As time went by I shared these posts with my friends and once my girl friend gave me a thought, It was like "Hey, why don't you write about your motherland?". That was an interesting idea and I started to work with it. Anyone in this planet will know India is pretty big country and it is almost impossible to write each and everything about India in a single competiton. I was able to present only the best of the best about India in my previous entries. The days ran fast and the competition was coming to an end.

The last night before the competition was just tough. I still remember the adrenaline rush that I had running within me during the last few hours of the competition. There was a cold war [I guess that is the perfect term to use] among the first five positions and I'm glad that I was also able to be a part of that cold war. The only difference between this cold war and the real one is that this cold war is between FRIENDS where the latter one is not. At last the competition ended with a thrill and we had to wait for the final scrutinization. Everyone was really awaiting the results and so was I. At the end of the competition I was not able to believe myself as I had written so many things and each and everyone of them is a personal experience which means I had so much experiences in this short span of time. This competiton has helped me personally by helping me to keep a record about it. The results were announce after a few weeks and I'm still happy that I was able to secure a place among the top 5 in the competiton.

The fun part comes after this, I seriously had no idea that my articles will be so much helpful for other people unless I begin getting private messages, comments and mails from so many people. I had a feel of satisfaction that I have helped these many people in finding at least a small part of the thing they were searching for. As I stated in the beginning this was more than a competition for me, I was able to help fellow students and people. I would finally like to thank Erasmusu for providing me a platform to use my time in a way that would help people. I would also like to extend my warm wishes to all those participants in this competition and wish them a good luck. Expecting a fun filled competition ahead and until my next article here good bye guys.!
