10 Resolutions University Students should make
Many a student are surprised to find that uni life isn’t all parties and socialising; unfortunately taking a uni course is nothing like the student life we see on our TVs. The following ten resolutions should be factored into every student’s life if they’re to make the most of their uni course.
10. Keep in touch with home more often
Whilst uni life is exciting, you should remember the people at home, your old friends and your family. Even if you can just contact them more electronically, both you and they will be glad of an extra chat every now and then.
9. Get healthier
It seems an inevitably fact of university life that students have bad diets; whilst you may not be able to afford a diet that is full of nourishment, factoring in just a piece of fruit per day can work wonders. You should also try and get some exercise, even if it’s just taking a walk, you’ll feel much better for it and that valuable thinking time can provide a break through on that assignment that has been going nowhere fast.
8. Manage your time better
If you find that you’re constantly chasing your tail and rushing assignments then you need to manage your time better. Get started on that assignment early, and miss out on a social occasion every once in a while.
7. Attend more classes!
There’s few (if any) students that attend each and every class, but take it from us at Mytutorweb, your grades won’t thank you.
6. Get working on that CV
Start thinking about your CV now, rather than when you finish uni. Get involved in extracurricular activities, such as groups at your university, or ask your careers department about other ways that you can bulk out your CV.
5. Be better with money
Being better with money is easier said than done, however there are always things you can do to ensure that your finances are ran better for the New Year. Review your energy supplier, or keep a spend diary to identify where your money really goes.
4. Do your liver a favour
Do your liver a favour and take a break from the drinking every once in a while! You’ll feel better for it and your wallet will most definitely thank you!
3. Get more sleep
Students generally look like zombies at one point or another; the demanding party schedule, never ending assignment list and part time job all make for a demanding day to day schedule. Do yourself a favour every once in a while and plump for your bed rather than the club.
2. Focus on the future
Try and think about life after uni, and start taking the steps that will get you ahead in the jobs market; write down you career goals or get in touch with your careers department.
1. Work harder (if only a little)
The majority of students finish their university course with a degree that may not truly represent their capabilities. Try focussing on your final degree grade, and don’t leave it until the final year to knuckle down.
