Where to go for an Erasmus night out in Warsaw
Hello, travellers! In this blog, I want to tell you which are the best places to go for a night out in Warsaw. I have been in this city, on Erasmus, for four months and I can confirm that I know a fair amount about partying here. Before anything else, I would often go out to party four days a week and it was always full of Spaniards, wherever it was, so, if you're Spanish, you will feel at home.
1. - Pijalnia: Pijalnias are bars where you can buy beers and shots for 4 zlotys, which is the equivalent of 1 euro. There are various Pijalnias in the centre and there are also some in other Polish cities. They're often full of people and some of them have a dance floor, but they are generally typical bars where you drink beer before going to the club, or to just drink in your own time. And they are open 24 hours.
Entrance: free.
2. - Teatro Cubano: found next to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, it was opened a couple of months ago and it is already one of the clubs with the best atmospheres in Warsaw; for me, it's my first choice when deciding where to go out to party. There are often Erasmus people, though that is most often the case. In the afternoons, there are often shows, salsa classes or themed parties, although these tend to be for slightly older people, in other words they aren't Erasmus people. On an average day, the music in the club is Latin and popular music, the majority of which is in Spanish.
(Club)
Entrance: 20 zlotys or free, depending on the day.
Address: Aleksandra Fredry 6, 00-097 Warszawa, Poland.
3. - Park Klub: an excellent place to go on Wednesdays if you are part of Erasmus, a date you cannot miss. For 2. 50 euros you can have free beer until one o'clock if you are a student, so I recommend that you go early and take advantage of the free drinks. In addition, there are quite a few tables to sit down at and drink for the beginning of the night, and then you will hit the dance floor. From May the terrace is open, which is quite big and where you can enjoy Polish beer. Here the majority of people are Erasmus, and so it has a very good atmosphere.
(Club)
Entrance: 20 zlotys for the normal entrance fee, 10 zlotys with a student card.
Address: aleja Niepodległości 196, 00-608 Warszawa, Poland.
4. - Klub Riviera Remont: just like Park Klub, there is a free beer bar, only that the day to go for this is a Tuesday. Unlike Park Klub, Remont is more for a calm night out, since it's not really the place where people go to dance. Basically, it's a place with tables to sit at and drink beer.
Entrance: 20 zlotys for the normal entrance fee, 10 zlotys with a student card.
Address: Waryńskiego 12a, 00-636 Warszawa, Poland.
5. - Sketch: the most surprising thing about this place is that there is a free waffle bar. Yes, you read that correctly, you can eat all the waffles you like. There tends to be quite a long queue to get in, but you can always be sure that there is a good atmosphere inside. Almost an exception to the rule in Warsaw, they don't play Latin music but techno, which, for some, can be a relief. It's on Mazowiecka Street, where there are other pubs/ clubs on this same street or around it, such as Bank (which I haven't mentioned in this post, but it is also very good).
(Club)
Entrance: 20 zlotys.
Mazowiecka 11A, 00-052 Warszawa, Poland.
6. Peanuts Shot Bar: unfortunately, this place is now permanently closed, but it was a little bar on Nowy Świat Street, where the best thing about it was its shots. It's not a bar where you'd spend lots of time there, nor are there lots of people there, but it's all part of its charm, and you go to have a shot anyway. It was located in a very good area in regards to getting to the Mazowiecka or Pawilony bars, and it was next to a couple of Pijalnias, but it was still never very well known. It used to be one of my recommendations for places to go to drink a shot or two, as the shots were veeeeery original. You could find oreo shots with a biscuit, with a lollipop, ones that glowed in the dark etc., for only 4 zlotys (1euro). And it was open 24 hours.
(Bar)
Entrance: free.
Address: Nowy Świat 26, 00-373 Warszawa, Poland.
7. - Pawilony: this is a zone dedicated to bars, situated on Nowy Świat Street (high street), which can be accessed by walking through the alleyway next to the previously mentioned bar. As you may have guessed by its name, it has small pavilions in the form of booths, where there is a bar in each of them. The majority have a ground floor and a small terrace outside. When the good weather begins, regardless of whether it is the afternoon or the evening, there is a great atmosphere in this area for having something to drink.
(Bar zone)
Entrance: all the bars have free entrance.
Address: Nowy Świat 22/28, 00-001 Warszawa, Poland.
8. - The river: as soon as the good weather starts, which is usually around May time, the riverbanks fill with people drinking and having barbecues. The river is the only place in the city of Warsaw where it is legal to drink alcohol on the street. The best area along the river for atmosphere is the one near the bridge that crosses over to the national football stadium. The best option in summer is to go to the riverbanks and drink there with your friends before going out clubbing, which is what they call a "botellón" in Spain (what we would call pre-drinks in England, just outside). Also from the shore of Praga, when the sun is setting, you can enjoy beautiful views of the skyline of Warsaw with the sunset in the background.
(Drinking zone)
Getting there: get off at the tram stop "Most Poniatowskiego".
9. - The beach: it is a club located on the Vistula river of Warsaw, in the Praga part, situated just in front of Stare Miasto. It is quite an elegant club that only opens in the summer months from May onwards. The site itself is very pretty with views of the old town, different bars and purple lights.
CLARIFICATIONS:
- It's very common for the bouncer to not want to let you in to the club that night. It happens quite often, especially if you're a guy.
- It is VERY, VERY, VERY recommendable that you bring your international student card with you, as in many clubs they will give you 50% off the price with this card.
- If you want to drink shots in the clubs, it will ruin you. - If you don't like beer, you will eventually get used to it, as it is the easiest drink to get hold of; it's popular and cheap to drink here.
