What to do in Nesna when you don't have to go to University?

First of all, I recommend you to chose Nesna just in case you are an athletic person. Why? It is an easy question.

Nesna is such a small village; you can not go shopping, or to the cinema, there are no discos as in Spain... But you have an amazing natural range of possibilities.

Nesna is an area that includes three islands. You can just take a ferry and you will be there in half and hour. I haven't been there yet, but I can see them from my window. There are not too many houses in them, but the mountains are high enough. There are also some path you can walk trough, so it is a day-trip you can do, and I will!

If you don't fell like taking the ferry, you can go to the mountain up here. It takes about 40 minutes to get to the top and you can see the whole village. I have been there many times, and I really recommend it. It is well-worth it for you to do so, it is good for your health and for your mind. Probably, you can go hiking even if there is snow.

Fishing is also and activity you can do. I haven never done so, and I don't really feel like trying. But you have the chance to be in contact with nature, develope your surviving skills and also eat some fresh fish be "free"!

Maybe later you can go to some of the barbacueing areas (there are many all around) and cook it by yourself. You can also have so SPAR or COOP food as fiskeburgger (I recommend to give them a try).

If you like climbing, as I do, you also have a specific place to go. It is not perfect, but it is good enough for keep on practising. The point is that you need to go during the summer, because once it starts to rain... It is impossible to go.

Even if you are a gym-man or woman, you have here a workout center where you can go from Monday to Saturday, and the whole semester is cheaper than a month in a Spanish gym (just for being an international student). I don't go, but I am told it is not so big, but it is enough for stay fit.

Swimming is, in my opinion, a better option. At the University there is a swimming pool where you can go as a student for free. You have a specific timetable when you can go, but it is free and normally is not so crowded so you can enjoy for a while. There is also a sauna inside. And if it is day outside (before 4pm during the winter) you can see the mountain while you are swimming. Amazing.

And the last but my favorite option. If you are coming to Nesna, you should be a nature lover. Because if not, you are not going to enjoy gazing at the stars at night (when it is not cloudy) or seeing the sunrise while having breakfast, or looking at the waves in the sea...

Nature, calm, cold, silence.
