You cannot decide what to carry for the next trip? Do you take a long time for choosing your clothes? Or you feel like you have nothing to wear even when your closet is filled with lots of clothes?

Travel more, carry less

Here are the tips to travel more and live your daily life with less clothes.

I started studying abroad on August 31stand spent two months in Bordeaux, France. I carried one suitcase and one backpack when I traveled to France. I packed some minimum clothes that I liked and thought like I could buy some when I need it. I actually bought a few but I realized that I was ok with the original clothes for a long time and I really didn’t get bored with them.

All the clothes I have worn from the first day to now are here.

The clothes I carried

Two shirt/ three t-shirts/ one long sleeve shirt/ two hoodies/ one sweatshirt/ one sweater/ one denim jacket/ one long coat/ one jacket of a suit( I didn’t need it because there was no chance to wear it.)/ two pants/ one skirt/ one pair of sneakers/ one backpack/ six pairs of underwear / five pairs of socks/ two tights

If you are going to cold countries, you can change the jacket or t-shits to warmer ones.

Things I bought

One flat shoes/ one belt

How to choose the clothes

  1. Decide the basic colors: for example like black and white or pink and beige. If you search “#capsurewordrobe” on Pinterest, I think you can find good examples.
  2. Choose something you are always wearing or something you feel comfortable with. (It is also important to choose things that are easy to wash.) If you cannot decide, you can ask to yourself like, “do you really buy it if you go to a store right now?”.
  3. Choose the clothes you don’t need to layer. This is just because it’s easier to choose everyday and it’s warmer basically but there are exceptions so you can ignore it if you have the ones you really like.
  4. If there is a same type of clothes, choose the one which goes well with more clothes.
  5. You can freely pick accessories because they don’t need much space.

Good things I learned by mix-and-match with less clothes are that you don’t need to take much time to choose them and when you shop, you would look for more useful clothing with better quality because you know that you will wear it many times. I believe that the same can be said to other belongings too. You get more space for your closet or your room and you can get satisfied with your style and spend more time for something interesting J

Hope this article helps you a little and I hope you spend the coming sweater weather with your favorites ;)
