To all the people thinking about visiting Poland

- do it! In my point of view the best time for doing it are spring or summer due to more sun, tourists & a possibility of exploring towns by foot.

Pass through this city

I've spend one month in third largest city of Poland - Łódź and it has been an amazing experience. I was situated in dormitory as a student and in my host university I was doing research but after 8 hours working in laboratory there was always something to do in the evening. Day by day I will give an overview and suggestions where to go out, eat or drink with some more additional information about the town or my impression in general.

First of all I have to emphasize the Piotrkowska street - one of the longest streets in Europe and in my opinion center of all activities in town of Łódź. There are all kinds of clubs, restaurants, coffee bars, stores, outlets etc. - more or less everything you need!

If you ever find yourself in Łódź

"must see thing" is house of mirrors on the beggining of Piotrkowska street. It is simply outstanding view! 2 really big houses all covered with pieces of glass. It is specially good sight during the sunny day because it's bright like a diamond! Don't forget your sunglases!!

Where to go & what to see

On Monday there is Pijalnia wódki i piwa on Piotrkowska 92 and if you are looking for low price drinks and good atmosphere you have to come in happy hour from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. . For all students in Poland (you have to have a Poland student card), everything you want to drink you can have it for only 2 zlotys (approximately 50 cents)!!! :) and the most common are beers and shots! Soplica is a Polish version of liqueur and if it is from nuts it's delicious with milk - a shot called "monte" - if you like sweet I'm sure you will like this too.

On Tuesday you have to rest from good time and drinks the previous day so a good option is restaurant Pozytywka on Piotrkowska 72 where you have more then 30 different menu and if you ask me, baked pierogi with chicken & cheese and welcome tea with grapefruit and cinnamon is an unmistakable decision!

As far as restaurants concerned I was in one more - Restauracja Manekin, Sierpnia 1. It is quite awesome, but if you come during the busy hour you have to wait in line more then 15 min to get a table and more 45 min to get the food! But it's all worth it! For lasagne or salty pancakes lovers you won't regret it - they both are delicious!! There are various types of meat, sauces (garlic, tomato, bechamel...), spices so I think everybody would find something suitable for themselves.

When I announced about the food so much, I have to say just one thing about drinks too, this time it's not about beer or shots, it's the best cappucino in town at Jaga cafe, Pomorska street 145, and photos are here!

It's quite far from the center or Piotrkowska street, but if you are living in dormitory at Lumumby or Matejki, then it's on your way home. ^^

Furthermore, if you are into latin music, or dancing in general a good place to go on Tuesday is Klubokawiarnia DalekoBlisko, Piotrkowska 138/140. Events start every Tuesday at 10 p.m., DJ and 2 dance teachers (male and female) come. It is usually crowded, you come alone(if alone you can find your partner there) or with a partner, they show you some moves for about half an hour and the rest of the evening you dance! Party is mixed, they play salsa, baccata and merengue songs.

A bit hidden from the word, inside of a park, at the adress Jaraza 45 and literally in the basement of a restaurant - KIJ - Multitap & Cocktail Bar - a place to go on Wensday!  It's a bar with jazz music, whole orchestra is playing for more than 3 hours, with the breaks, of course, and the fact that it is in basement just gives it a special groove. It contains of three parts, one with the bar, stage part where you can sit quietly and look at the music being born, and a room next to stage where you can talk with your friends, or play darts. Nevertheless, it is not always on Wensday!! You can easily check the schedule on their facebook profile https://www.facebook.com/kazdykijmadwakonce/
In addition, second option is Club Czekolada, Piotrkowska 55. Always full on this day not so big space but good music - usually latest hits, great time out!! I have heard there are some "girls night" where you can come at 10 p.m. and have free drinks till midnight, but I've never really went so I can't confirm it. Anyways, afterwards, when you get hungry, there are some kebab shops open, but the real deal is Zapiekarnia at Piotrkowska 52. It is basically roasted bread with things like sausages, chicken, pork, salami, bacon, cheese, sauces, flavours etc. To sum up - the taste is brilliant!!

I believe that for Thursday or Friday perfect clubs are Theatr club at Moniuszki 4a or Lordi's club Piotrkowska 102. There really isn't much to say except the party is guaranteed! Big stages to dance, large choice of drinks and you can stay there after 3 or 4 in the morning.

Saturday morning - a great time for manufaktura!

Great deal od shops, restaurants, coffee bars, cinema, parks near by for children and lots of things to do. One of the restaurantes I've been is Galicja. Very nice food and I have to emphasize salad was sweet which is very strange for balkan people because we put a bit of acid, oil and salt as a flavour! Nevertheless, quick waiter service and lovely tradicional ambient.

For going out there is really lots of choices, just go on Piotrkowska because on Saturday almost everything is open. I do have to say that boys have a bad luck when it comes to clubs, almost every entrance is paying 5-20 zlotyes and for girls is free.

As the last day of week is concerned, I would recommend a walk through the city to visit parks. The choice is large, there are: big and small ones, with the lake or without, more or less arranged... I've visited a great deal of them, but I would definitely go for park im. Jana Matejki. It is more than beautiful, very carefully decorated with fontane at the very beginning and the view is outstanding wherever you look.
