Milan airports and the city transportations

Milan has three airports, these are Linate, Malpensa and Bergamo airports. I have used Malpensa and Bergamo airports, i have never used the Linate airport. Malpensa was so close to my place, Bovisa neighbourhood, so my relatives and I would prefer using that one. When i prefered train instead of bus, I had to pay 13. 5 euro for only one direction which was a little expensive for me. It used to take half an hour to arrive the city by train. I used to choose the Bergamo airport specially when i cought cheaper tickets from Ryan Air.

Bus shuttles get off in front of the airport, going to city center from Malpensa airport costs 8 euro. You can take shuttle from Bergamo airport to the center for 5 euro. It usually takes 50 minutes to the city center from both airports.

My first day in Milan, I did not have the city transportation card so i bought a daily ticket from ticket machine. For this occasion you need to change the language to english in the ticket machine and choose urban ticket and then daily ticket, 1 way ticket. When you choose the one which costs 1. 5e, you can use it for one hour but do not forget it may not be usefull if is wrinkled or ripped. You should also make your ticket read when you get out of metro so keep it with you. If you need to use so many transportations in a day, trains, busses or trams, it will be cheaper if you get a daily ticket which costs 4. 5e and you can use it for 24 hours for any transportations. There are also options of tickets for 2 days or weekly, you can consider using them as well.

There is one issiue you need to keep in your mind during transportations. Some people may understand that you tourist or stranger to the city and pretend employee from the ticket offices and may want to help you with the machine. Then they ask change for your ticket or commit theif. Be carefull for that, protect your bag or purse or you can buy from the ticket offices, they are safer.

I will tell later about buying student cards in another title.

Best wishes
