Now today, I'm going to give the briefest explanations on how to use the public bus in Kuala Lumpur, there are numerous routes for each area of Kuala Lumpur, it often gets confusing to be honest. They also changed the bus numbers a few months back and made it even more confusing. I mean they aimed to make it simpler but for now everyone is used to the old bus numbers and that’s why it is confusing. Anyways if you guys just go to https://www.myrapid.com.my , you can check all the available routes from their origin to their final destination.

I'm only going to cover the Ampang routes and tell you guys how to get to important touristic destinations using the buses. There are two reasons as to why I like the bus, first of all it is super cheap, the most expensive ticket is like 3 ringgits and that is if you want to go really far. Second of all with a bus you can also do some sightseeing and learn the streets as you pass by them, you can’t do that with an LRT, so I do think if you do have time on your hand use the public bus.

Lines 300 and 303:

These two lines essentially have all the same stations, so you can get on either one to get to your desired station. Now line 300 starts from this station called Pandan Mewah and line 303 starts from Taman Mulia jaya; but they both meet half way, which is right before Ampang point but I'm going to take Ampang point as our origin here.

From Ampang point you can take the public bus (Lines 300 and 303) to go to any of the following stations:

I'm only going to mention the more famous stations

  • Gleneagles medical center (One of KL’s best hospitals)
  • Great eastern mall
  • Russian federation embassy
  • Thai embassy
  • Ampang Park (You can get on the LRT here)
  • Kun Yam Kung temple (One of the touristic temples, situated right before twin towers)
  • KLCC (the twin towers)
  • Renaissance Hotel
  • Dang Wangi (You can get on the LRT here)
  • Bukit nanas (You can get on the monorail here)
  • Hab Munshi Abdullah (The last station)

Now the ticket price until KLCC is 1 ringgits, although if you have the “My Rapid” card which is like those pre-paid cards which can be used for LRT, bus, monorail and any other public transport medium. Then your ticket price would be 80 cents. Any station after KLCC the ticket price is 1. 90 ringgits, which again is cheaper if you use the “My Rapid” card.

Okay so that’s about it for these two lines. Next up we have the GO KL buses, which are free buses basically designated to help tourists move around. I will tell you guys the exact routes of these buses.
