Istiklal Street - Taksim
Istiklal street(Istiklal caddesi) - is one of the most famous avenues in Istanbul. There are many popular pictures from tourists and natives who take a photo of the tram how I have done. It's a must have done!
One of my pictures is this one during sunset - I've passed this road felt 100 times.
Just to mention it in passing it was not difficult to find friends here - you will never stay alone because everybody is warm-hearted. They welcome you in such a nice way that you think you know these people a long time.
Back to Istiklal street. During the day you can shop in all kinds of shops while walking down the street. You will see many stands with chestnut, corn and rice with chicken. Popular brands like Zara, Levi's, Diesel and many other you can find there and a typical turkish kitchen is also represented on the street. One of my favourite cafes there is the "türk alman kitabevi cafe" wich is almost on the end of the street. Relaxed music, a cup of a tea and a cool and friendly staff which served you. Try it out! Take a look on the picture below where a friend take a "snap" while I was reading.
There are so many people that it is almost impossible to walk and if you think it's better during the night I have to disappoint you. There are also many people while it is night. At a late hour you have many possibilities to do something. For example you can smoke a waterpipe in one of the cafes, go into a bar with or without live music, dance in a club, eat again turkish food or just go for a walk.
