Studenthuset//City Scene

One of the best places in Alta to get a coffee, some food or a drink for a cheap price. They have special student prices and volunteer prizes. You can also just sit down and make your homework in the restaurant/cafe, the atmosphere is really nice and cozy. You can also play shuffle board and other board games. The hang out spot for the students in town! In the evening they have themed nights and different concerts from popular artists to rather unknown dj's. It is really really cool.

Nordlysbadet

I was blown away the first time I was at Nordlysbadet. They have student discount as well. But once you have gotten changed and enter the pool area, you will get mind blown. There are many differnt pools, hot tubs (inside and outside!), different sauna's, a climbing wall in the pool, a small lazy river and even a slide that calculates how fast you went down. The record I saw last was around only 4 seconds! Unreal! But definetely a place I would recommend to go to, it is not too expensive and everything you get back for it is even better.

Northern Lights Cathedral

The Northern Ligths Cathedral. A lovely place in the city, the building everyone knows. It is almost like an artwork on the inside and outside. With beautiful gospels and choirs. Definetely worth to pay a visit to. Downstairs they have an interactive exhibition about the Northern Lights, you can sing to stimulate the northern lights for example. On Sunday there is no entrance fee.

Tavernan restaurant

Tavernan is a super nice restaurant in town. It is really cozy and has a homelike feel to it. They offer great food and drinks for a reasonable prize. I ate a reindeer pizza from approximately 20 euros, which is cheap for Norwegian standards. It was amazing, it almost melted on your tongue and the taste, so yummy! A must eat place in town!

Miabutikken

Miabutikken is a second hand shop just outside of the city centre. They have a new selection of items approximately each week or month. It is super cheap, so for students a really recommendable place to go to if you for example need cutlery, plates, or even a desklamp. They have a wide selection of products, for great prices!

AMFI

Amfi is the huge shopping centre in town. You can go shopping here, eat in the small restaurants, enjoy sushi, or even smoothies. There are different book stores, handy craft shops, clothing shops, childrens stores, sport stores, a post office, a pharmacy and even a supermarket inside. Enough for a day out for fun, and you can find almost everything that you need in this mall.
