Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia - How and where I should find the accomodation?
Are you going on the Erasmus to Gdańsk and you don't know how and where even start looking for some place to stay during that time? That short post might be just for you.

Language
It would be good if you learn the basic words in polish when it comes to renting a flat. Things such as "room", "flat", "monthly rent" are easily to find in every dictionary. With that basic knowledge it will be easier for you to try find a flat/house/room on websites that are only run in polish.

Knowing someone from Poland
The best option would be of course if you know anyone from the country you are going to live in or if you know anyone who already has been on the Erasmus there. This way you can always ask them to contact the owner of the announcement you have found so the language barrier isn't a problem. It is also important to remember that the owners of flat in Three City (Gdansk, Gdynia, Sopot - that is how we call these three cities together) might want to gain more money from people who are not from Poland.

Websites
Here are couple of websites which you can check out while searching a flat in Gdansk, Gdynia or Sopot:
- The first website - the problem of that website is for sure that it is only in polish so you will need to be prepared to work with dictionary.
The rest of websites that I really do recommend (more than the OLX one) are groups made on Facebook.
- First group - "Stancje w Trojmiescie" is one of the groups where everyone keeps adding the announcements with new flats or rooms in Three City.
- Second group - "Mieszkania Kupie, Sprzedam, Wynajme - Trojmiasto"
- Third group - "Tanie mieszkania i pokoje na wynajem"
Remember though in each of these groups you probably need to be accepted from the owner of the group. What is more, the annoucements are being added everyday and everyday everyone is always checking it. Which means you might not have a lot of time to consider if you want it or not. If you are interested in some flat because the montly rent is more or less ok it is good to message the owner of the house and say you are interested to take it and ask for more details. It is important for them to see that they might have found the client.
There are plenty of groups on Facebook like the ones I have shown you. You have to just keep searching (writing in search on Facebook "Rent a flat in Gdansk" or "Rent a flat in Trojmiasto"*).
Another way to search of Facebook is the "Market Place". I'm sure most of you know what this place is. Is just "online market" where you can find announcements. All you need to do is check out your facebook and write to the owner of the house for more information.
If you have already found the flat you want to rent you can always send me a direct message and I will try to help you out - I can always contact the owner of the house for you and talk with them in polish and later send you all useful information such as where exactly the flat is, how much do you need to pay for monthly rent with all media (such as water, electricity, wifi etc).
* Trójmiasto = polish name for Three City = Gdansk, Gdynia, Sopot
