Dinner Party with our Landlady
Before going home for Christmas my landlady Ana insisted on coming round for a dinner party with the whole flat, which was really nice of her. She has always been really friendly with us, and it was lovely that she wanted to spend time with us and get to know us better. Another bonus was that she brought with her potato tortilla, which was delicious, we had laid on a spread of salads, bread and other nibbles with Geo cooking up a wonderful stuffed bread creation. Ana liked our Christmas decorations and was grateful for the card and small gift that we bought her for Christmas. We chatted about what we want to do in the future and how we have been finding Cádiz, then the really useful stuff came. Geo and Jana were staying for Christmas and so Ana gave them tips on what to do and see, she had brochures from the theatres to share with us and even offered to come and see the girls with her family so that they didn’t miss their own families so much. It was really great to have someone local who was willing to help us out and give us pointers, before then we were just making stabs in the dark and coming across things by chance. Ana took some pictures with us and called us her little girls which was sweet, she also encouraged us about our levels of Spanish, as she doesn’t speak English this was really good, I have been nervous about my level of Spanish but apparently it isn’t that bad, woohoo! Getting to know Ana was really great because not only does she give us extra tips for things we may have otherwise missed, being friends with your landlady is never a bad thing, for instance she hasn’t complained this month when my rent was over a week late. I would definitely recommend it for anyone to do, as I know a few people who have had trouble with their landlords, but luckily we have a really great landlady to go with the flat.
