Cool Places to Eat in Zaragoza

As you all know, Spanish people love to eat (as do I), so here are some of the best places to eat in Zaragoza, each coming with a short description of why I think they are such good places to go.

London

I'll start with London, a little sandwich bar. It's right next to the university and isn't too pricey. They sell the best sandwiches I've ever had, they're huge and cheap. You can also get tapas there, as well as really good burgers. It was one of my favourite places to eat in Zaragoza. Both at midday and at night, it's always buzzing.

Lizzaran

Lizzaran is a bar/restaurant perfect for tapas. It's really well priced and you can grab a small beer there too (I think they're about 70 cents or something).

El Cerbrián

Maybe the best burgers in all of Zaragoza. There's a really big one in Paseo Independencia. They have all kinds of burgers and they cost between 6 and 8 euros each, without chips. The portion size for the chips is huge, you can easily share one between two. They also have delicious sandwiches. The best thing though is that it's all home made, one of the many reasons it tastes so good. They also have desserts like ice cream, waffles and pastries.

Muerde la Pasta

Muerde la Pasta is an Italian restaurant and there are two in Zaragoza. One in Puerto Venecia C. C. and the other in Plaza Imperial C. C.

It's a sort of 'all you can eat' place that only costs 9. 95 euros (12. 95 in the evenings) and is definitely worth it. The food is amazing, there are loads of pizzas, pasta, lasagne, meat, salads, bread, chips, rice etc. They also have desserts like ice cream, brownies as well as pastries, fruits, custard and more. It's bottomless drinks of whatever you fancy. Muerde la Pasta was my favourite place to eat as there were so many different things to have, all of which were delicious. It's a great place to go with friends in the evening after doing some shopping in the town centres.

The Old Town

Zaragoza's Old Town or 'El Tubo' as it's better known, is famous for its tapas bars. There are loads of narrow streets, full of restaurants. When the new Erasmus students arrive, ESN-Zaragoza usually organises a "tapas bar crawl" to help you get to know the city and the best places to eat. 'El Tubo' is so cool as there is loads of variety and it's funny to see everyone eating, especially as there is no where to sit so everyone is standing.

Hollywood's Foster

For all you burger lovers, this is another great American Diner. Other than the burgers, that each come with fries or oven cooked chips and a little salad, they have steak and pasta. There are Club Sanwiches and similar lighter options. The desserts are amazing too, definitely worth trying. They also have a bottomless drink policy, pay for your glass then have as much of it as you want.

El Calamar Bravo

If you've ever been to Zaragoza then you've been to El Calamar Bravo. It's really popular here and always packed. It has squid and salad sandwiches that are to die for. They aren't expensive either. It's down a little side street near Paseo Independencia, but you can't miss it.

100 Montaditos

Known all over Spain, here you'll find cheap salads and sandwiches. For a quick snack it's great, it's also a good (and cheap) place to have a few beers or a couple sangrías.

Sakura

For anyone that loves Chinese/Japanese food, Sakura is the place to go. It's another 'all you can eat' type of place and there are loads of them dotted around the city. For example, there is one near El Parque Grande and another in Paseo de Independencia (I prefer the one near Parque Grande as it has better sushi). You can have Chinese dishes like rice three ways, chop suey, duck or Chinese noodles, etc. and they also have Sushi. There are also salads and a bar where you can chose ingredients for them to cook in front of you. It's cheaper in the day than at night.

La Piedra

La Piedra is in La Calle Cortés de Aragón. It's fairly expensive but the food is really good. It's a small place, but 'Las Patatas Piedritas' are unrivalled and all the meat is delicious. The waiting staff are all good looking and really attentive. I especially recommend it to anyone wanting some amazing meat and the most unforgettable chips.

El Dieciséis

El Dieciséis is on Avenida Cesar Agosto. You'll be well fed here! There are loads of different dishes, tapas or main courses, as well as some really good salads. I really liked their Cesar Salad.

El Asador de Aranda

El Asador de Aranda is in Zaragoza's Old Town. It's not cheap but that's because of how good the food is. The meat is delicious and I loved it every time I went there.
