When you are planning to travel or to do an exchange, it is always useful to know some basic words, used in your country of destination. In Bulgaria, you would meet many English-speakers, but elderly people or the personnel that works in supermarkets and shops would hardly speak English. That's why it is good to know the following words and expressions. If I have to be honest, even some young people do not speak foreign languages, so learning some expressions would be useful.

Zdravei = Hello

Blaogdaria or Mersi = Thank you

Dovijdane or Chao = Bye

Hrana = Food

Bira = Beer

Hliab = Bread

Mliako = Milk

Sirene = Cheese

Salata = Salad

Meso = Meat

Reis = Bus

Kola = Car

Obicham te = I love you

Krasiva si = You are pretty (for a girl ;)

Nazdrave = Cheers
