Here we go with a description of the entire activity of the NGO where I am an EVS volunteer. Why I think is important for sharing with other people, who they are, what are they doing for community and young people of Vila Real de Santo Antonio you will find out in the followings paragraphs.

‘BACKUP’ is a non-profit youth association which was founded in 2013, based in Vila Real de Santo António (Algarve, Portugal), that aims to promote youth empowerment, community development and enhance youth participation in civil society.

Their mission is encouraging active participation of young people in the development of their community, by empowering them, offering working spaces, tools, opportunities and the necessary support to ‘backup' their projects.

They work and now we work in several fields like trainings, youth exchanges, volunteering service, youth policies, community development, social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, social entrepreneurship, advocacy, democratic citizenship and human rights education.

‘BACKUP’ follows transversely in its projects and activities the principles of non-formal education.

We are an accredited organization in the National Register of Youth Associations (RNAJ), member of City Youth Council of Vila Real de Santo António, member of the Education Council of Vila Real de Santo António, member of the international network Anna Lindh Foundation, co-founder of FAJALG (Algarve Federation of Youth Associations) and co-founder of the european network AIM.

Currently the ‘BACKUP’ office is composed by 5 staff members, plus punctual local volunteers and collaborators.

So, guys, atençao!

If you are searching for an opportunity to share your skills for improving an community and involve young people in a lot of activities, good activities for them and if you would like to learn something new and participate in a exchange of knowledge and stuff please contact this organization and keep in touch with them.

At the moment I am EVS volunteer and I am involved in some activities and project of this organization and to be honest with you I am very thankful for this opportunity. And also I am in an continue international exchange about languages, cultures, traditions and all amazing things that flyes around us - we need just to catch them and use them properly.

As a EVS volunteer I did not expect a lot of interesting things but now I can say that around me happens a lot of things and I can be involved in almost all of them! I can share and I can learn, I can participate or I can ask for participation, I can participate to  mixed of cultures, traditions, languages - it is amazing. And I am thankful that they give to us (EVS volunteers) opportunity to learn local language, in this case portuguese language. Guys,  a lot of nice things can happen everytime but EVS experiece is something more I think :) Definitely you should try!

I would like to share with you something else that I like and I appreciate a lot, they give to us opportunity to transform our personal ideas into some useful projects for community. This means, if I have an idea and after that I work on that idea, if I do canva business model for that Idea and if I can prove that my idea is good and useful for young people and community I will have the opportunity to implement that idea or ideas during my EVS programme. This is amazing! I think it is a very nice way to promote diversity and youth participation. You can activate young people through your projects, you can involve them in your project to do a social project for the community. Is not amazing? What do you think? I would love to read your opion about volunteering and EVS if you have some experiences with.

Guys, I hope you enjoyed reading my story. Comment below, follow me on instagram and go for a new experience!

See you and keep in touch!

Abraços!
