5 European cities you definitely need to visit in spring

Winter is coming to an end soon and it's time to start planning a good trip to escape the routine and recharge your batteries until summer. Do you want to know where to travel in spring in Europe? Let's take a look!

1. Warsaw, Poland

5 European cities you definitely need to visit in spring

We start our list with the capital of Poland, because we just love this city! If culture and history are your thing, we have a different alternative to the big European cities: Warsaw is your destination. The historic centre of this city (Stare Miasto), which was devastated in World War II, is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site for the faithful reconstruction of its architectural ensemble, dating from the 13th to the 20th centuries. You'll love the pastel-coloured facades of the Market Square and the beauty of the city centre, which is always worth a visit when the weather starts to warm up. A perfect getaway for a spring trip!

2. Porto, Portugal

If you're more in the mood for a gastronomic getaway and viewpoints with breathtaking views of the city, we recommend Porto. Stroll along the banks of the Douro River, enjoy Portuguese cuisine and wine and visit historic buildings such as the cathedral and the São Bento Station. Wander through the city's narrow streets and admire its tiled facades. We recommend comfortable shoes, as Porto is famous for its hills like its big sister Lisbon. Don't forget to visit places of interest such as the Livraria Lello and stroll along the Luis I bridge for a great view. And while you're at it, don't miss a Fado show to experience Portuguese culture first hand. You'll love it!

3. Granada, Spain

If you are still not convinced about where to travel in spring, you should know that Granada charms everyone and is perfect to visit at this time of the year. Granada is one of those cities that you must visit at least once in your life, because the history of Spain cannot be understood without this wonderful city. Take a tour to learn about the history and importance of this ancient city, enjoy the magic of the Alhambra and the Albaicín, satiate your palate in one of its hundreds of tapas places and witness one of the best sunsets you'll ever see at the Mirador de San Nicolás. You'll leave wanting more!

4. Budapest, Hungary

5 European cities you definitely need to visit in spring

The Hungarian capital is a must-see for those who want to experience the essence of Central Europe on a spring break. Discover the majesty of Budapest's Parliament on the banks of the Danube, enjoy all that the centre, the Jewish quarter and most of the attractions in Pest have to offer. Then cross over to Buda to admire the Chain Bridge from below and marvel at the incredible views of the whole city from Fisherman's Bastion. Afterwards you can return to Buda and relax in the popular Széchenyi Baths (highly recommended) or go to Margit-sziget (Margaret Island), an island in the middle of the Danube and the green area of the city. You can explore it on foot or by bike if the weather is good.

The atmosphere at this time of year is excellent, as you can enjoy the city without the cold of the winter months and without the crowds of tourists in summer. It's a safe bet! Besides, this is a very popular city among students, so you can't miss the reasons why you should do your Erasmus in Budapest.

5. Milan, Italy

5 European cities you definitely need to visit in spring

Milan is perfect for lovers of modern cities, shopping and gastronomy. Walk around the city and be amazed at how the old and the new blend perfectly together. Marvel at Milan's impressive Duomo and enjoy the views from its Gothic towers. Visit the Castello Sforzesco, lose yourself in history and marvel at lesser-known works by da Vinci and Michelangelo. When you're ready to relax, enjoy Lombardy's gastronomy and try a delicious panzerotti before continuing your walk. A visit to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a must; whether you're a shopaholic or not, you'll be impressed for sure!

Milan is great for a few days of unwinding, so there's nothing like a few days in this Italian city to cure the wear and tear of routine.
