University of Birmingham

The University of Birmingham is very different to the one in Zaragoza. There is green grass, well looked after; evergreen trees and small bushes; ivy in the facades of the buildings; small paths between the gardens; an enormous library, nearly as tall as the main building; a clock tower that you can see from anywhere on the campus and lot's going on all the time. It is also the only university in England that has it's own train station- according to a boy that told me this at a party on Saturday.

Wikipedia says that the University of Birmingham was founded on 24th March 1900 by Queen Victoria I of the United Kingdom and it is, with 27, 000 students (4, 000 of those foreign) the largest English metropolitan university. Birmingham is also one of the biggest of West Midlands and all of England.

The University is a member of the Russell Group, of the group of British research universities and, since 1997, of the worldwide network of universities 21.
