About Bilbao

So Bilbao is a city wich for me combines different features in a way in which the city is really balanced and peaceful. It is the main city in the Baskque Country and is one of the main industrial cities in Spain. It could be said that the standard is quite high compared to other parts of Spain (however Barcelona may be even more expensive than Bilbao but stll this is Barcelona... ).

So again for Bilbao, it is located in the north of Spain and it is divided into two parts from Bilbao river. It is the 5th biggest city in Spain, however for me is still a pretty small town compared to Madrid or Barcelona. The one thing which I admire is how calm is the car traffic, even in the peak hours there are not many cars on the streets. For me one of the reason is that the metro is used by many citizens and most of the people who work and study here live in small villages close to Bilbao, rather than living inside the city. There are two universities UPV and DEUSTO. I study in Deusto but I will speak about it in more detail, later. One of the best things about Bilbao is that it has everything that you need: many many bars and restaurants, malls and shops, discos, parks, sports fields and other. The ocean is close with the metro and you could visit beautiful nature sights. There are many young people in Bilbao, many fiestas and parties and in general the people are really friendly and helpful. The city has many bridges, my favorite one is the Deusto bridge, because the view from it is spectacular. The food is also very good and you should defenitely try the variety of different "pintchos" which is typycal basque food, "chyros" with hot chocolate and "pastel del arroz".

These are the first thing that pop in my mind when I think about Bilbao. In the other posts I will put my attention more on basque culture, food, my university, bars, discos and beaches worth visiting.
