Crossing the border

As stated on previous posts before, the Basque Country is a blessed region because of the variety of its landscapes and so the range of the activities offered there. Moreover the mountains and the forests and beyond its hiking options, many beaches along the Cantabric sea are waiting for tourists: waves to be surfed, the combination or lack of combination of sun and sea to be drunk under miles of shorelines.

Furthermore it is remarkable to underline that the Basque Country is not only located in Spain but also in France. From Bilbao is very easy to cross the border by bus, car or blablacar in order to visit cities such as Biarritz or Bayonne, among others, only a few hours from there. It can be also an opportunity among those curious travelers to pass through San Sebastian, eat some good pintxos, have a walk in "La Concha" beach and discover the old town. Donosti is that wonderful that another post about this place shall be written (hopefully soon); )

As the high spots to be recommended are the beaches along the Cantabric, once in France a glimpse to Biarritz should be a must for any wanderer. After crossing Bayonne, which is a small nice town -to be around and walk for about one day-, any traveler can take buses from there (almost every 30 minutes they depart in direction to Biarritz).

Why Biarritz?

Well, first of all and mainly because of the beaches.

Secondly, there are some nice walk paths along the shorelines and crossing the city is a good chance to discover the beautiful architecture of the place, step by step. The experience can be a delightful piece of art for the 'seeing eyes'.

Shops, bars and restaurants are also another option for some travelers but the most important thing to consider is not to forget sunblock and the swimming suit.

Recommended sights in Biarritz: Cité de L´Océan, Musée de la Mer, Rocher de la Vierge, Plage Miramar, Grande Plage, Anglet, Planete Musée du Chocolat, The neo-Gothic Église Ste-Eugénie, Plage de la Milady and Plage du Port Vieux.

Their waves are just waiting for you... Embrace the moment!
