Trip to Berlin, Germany (01/10/2016 - 03/10/2016)
For this trip, my friends and I also bought Flixbus tickets. Also, from Hannover to Berlin, it only took us 3. 5 hours
We stayed in a hostel which was located near to the Berlin Universal Studios.
The price for a night was really cheap (around 10 euros). Saying that, they were rooms with 12 beds. As we were a group of 10, we only had to share the room with 2 strangers.
The hostel wasn't three stars but considering how cheap it was, it wasn't bad.
Day 1 (01/10/2016)
In the morning we went by metro to the Brandenburg Port where we met our Sanderman's Free Tour guide.
In the free tour, they talked to us about the intensive history that lies behind this city. We went by the Monument for the Assesinated European Jews, the place where Hitler's Bunker was located where he killed himself, the parts of the Berlin Wall that aren't destroyed, Checkpoint Charlie and the Isle of Museums, etc.
In the break, I ate a Berliner, a ball full of cream and delicious chocolate.
After the tour, we saw the Eduvigis Cathedral where there was an organ concert being held.
We also got closer to see the statues of Marx and Engels.
After eating, we went to Alexanderplatz, one of the most important areas in the city.
Here, we stayed with a friend who lives in Berlin. He showed us some really pretty and recommended alternative streets, such as Hackesche Höfe and the Jewish synagogue.
After the tourist route, we went to some bars to have a beer. I tried the Rauchbier Weizen, which was smokey.
Day 2 (02/10/2016)
In the morning, we decided to go to a tour of the Berlin Bunker (Tour 1 of Berliner Umterwelten).
The facilities of the bunker were fascinating. The walls of the rooms were painted with a shining light in the darkness so that you could see something below. In rooms meant for 160 people there ended up being thousands of people locked up.
After the tour, we went to one of the hills formed from the rubble of war.
Before eating, we visited the Mauerpark market. The atmosphere was really nice and there was a big green area to sit down on.
In the evening we went to see the Reichtag and two museums: the Holocaust one and the History of Nazism. They were both free and very interesting.
We went for an ice cream and had it in Hauptbahnhof (the train station), which is enormous and has a really pretty design.
Day 3 (03/10/2016)
We went around the Mural of Berlin again in the morning. It is definitely a must-see attraction.
The 3rd of October is the day of German Unity, so in the Brandenburg Port there was an electronic music concert, live in the open air.
We didn't have time to do much more than to buy some souvenirs in the shops in the centre and go for a quick stroll, because in the evening we had to get the return bus back to Hannover.
