Travelling to Berlin

Okay so I know you guys know that my semester ended like 2 weeks ago and so I really wanted to travel; I decided to visit Berlin since one of my really close friends lives there and she is really good at convincing. So the decision was soon made, and I booked my ticket.

I usually use the website "Skyscanner" to check for tickets within Europe (mostly), it shows you the lowest available fares and on which days is it more economical to fly. I really suggest using this website, you won't be disappointed. As for the airline I chose Ryanair, well Ryanair isn't the comfiest airline if we are being honest, but it is one of the cheapest ones and that was the most important detail to me; I mean after all my flight was only about 1 hour and I didn't mind not being in the most comfortable chairs. I paid 35 Euros for a 2 way ticket, yes I know that's cheap, I'm lucky but even you can find flights as cheap as this online; you just need to be flexible with your dates and you shall have it. I really suggest constantly checking the websites to see if the prices dropped and oh once you see a deal that you like grab onto it as it may not be there after a few hours. I remember once I found these super cheap tickets to Mallorca and then the next day I came to purchase them and saw that they were almost double the price.

Anyways in the next paragraph we are going to explore how we can get to the city center from the airport. Berlin has two airports, I came from Berlin Schonefeld, if you come from the other airport you need to check out the routes to the city. As for those of you coming from Schonefeld, this may be useful to you all.

I took the RE train to the city center, the RE trains are regional trains basically which can get you to a couple of different stations; I wanted to go to Alexander Platz and so the train took me straight there; it comes about every 20 minutes or so and from the ticket machine you need to purchase a single ticket which is valid for all zones A, B and C costs about 3. 40 Euros and it's valid for 2 hours from the moment you punch it in.

It takes less than half an hour to get to the city centre and so I'd say it's the fastest method by which you can travel to or from the airport. There are so many trains that connect up to these regional trains so you can get to different stations within the city, just use Google Maps.
