I just came back two weeks ago from Belfast after nine months of an amazing experience called Erasmus. I've been studying at Queen's University, and the welcome week for international students at the beginning of the first semester was simply awesome! Tour of Belfast, Irish dancing, Pub Crawl, and other activities where I met a lot of new and cool people. The craic in Belfast, that's how they call the fun there, it's something you'll never forget, every day of the week is a good one for going out. You just have to choose between typical Irish pubs where drink litres of Guinness and listen to Irish music, and a large list of clubs where burning the dance floor. Or, just get involved in the house parties life, you'll always find someone who's throwing a party, and I strongly suggest to enjoy that! Irish people are very friendly and always ready to have some fun, you won't feel like a stranger.

I've heard a lot of people asking what accommodation is the best choice, so here's my opinion. Queen's accommodation are pretty cool but don't go living in the Elms Village! If you choose Elms you'll live with a bunch of crazy Irish freshers who will party almost every night and leave the common areas dirty and unlivable. Moreover Elms is full of security (you can't enter after 11pm if they are not resident there) and it's the most expensive university accommodation. Other places like College Gardens, Grant House and Mount Charles are way better because you'll live with Erasmus and international students who of course love to party but also know how to live in a shared place! As a general rule choose university accommodations if you can afford them, but not Elms!

Belfast has a particular and interesting history, you'll enjoy learning it. Even though Northern Ireland is considered part of the UK, so that you'll have to cross the border in order to be in Ireland. I loved the Irish culture and I rented a car several times with friends for visiting Ireland. Dublin, Donegal, Cork, Galway, etc., all those places are wonderful!

Oh, and don't worry about the weather. Sure, it is always cloudy and rainy, but who cares? With all that craic the weather is the last thing you'll worry about, or you can even end up missing it once you left Belfast ...
