Lupita is a restaurant located in the food court of Palmas Mall. Being Mexican, I have found myself on the hunt for decent Mexican restaurants in other countries, however, Lupita has been one of the scarce few restaurants that has even come close to authentic Mexican food, especially when it comes to the seasoning.
I am pretty sure that one of the reasons for this is the fact that the restaurant's owner is Mexican , and they told me that he tries to import the majority of the food and keep it fresh. Now I understand why it was so good.
Decor
The restaurant is beautifully decorated, as it's not overwhelmed by Mexican things, but, instead, has a style that falls somewhere in the category of vintage with tasteful Mexican decorations. The tables have crayons that you can use to colour in the tablecloth, which, at the same time, is really eco-friendly as they are covered by a type of recycled paper. The restaurant's menu has lots of variety and includes Hibiscus tea and Horchata, both of which must be imported, as I have eaten in Mexican restaurants in Medellín and Bogotá that didn't offer them.
As you can see in the photo, almost everything is made of wood. This business is very environmentally-friendly, and this is undoubtedly what I like the most about it; they even bring the bill in little wooden baskets that, in Mexico, usually remind us of refreshment stalls.
Food
Obviously, the marinated meat tacos don't taste the same, but the flavour comes close to what it should be, and they are accompanied with a typical Mexican maize tortilla, onion, and coriander; the food is an excellent analgesic for the anxiety that many Mexicans suffer from when eating something from our country. At this restaurant, however, they have mastered the concept of what a taco truly is... it has killed me seeing tacos being prepared Taco Bell-style in some places, with sour cream and tomato.
The sauces and salt were put on the side so that the diners could use them to their liking.
Price-quality ratio
The prices at the restaurant are very reasonable, given that the quality of the food is excellent. At any given moment, we felt like we were at home; the waiters were very attentive and friendly, even more so than their job requires them to be, and lots of them asked us where we were from and what we were doing in Colombia.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to eat in a place with real Mexican food , with typical ingredients and at a reasonable price. I am sure that you will leave happy.
