What is it like to live in Barcelona? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Barcelona is a marvellous city full of beauty and plenty of entertainment. You can never get bored living here because there is always something to do! Mind you, it is easy to get mugged so be careful with your belongings. Also, some people can seem very stiffy here and it might take them a while to open up for you. As well, I've found it a little harder getting along with the people here due to my race so for anyone of color, be aware of this. Aside from that, the architecture and easy going lifestyle here is amazing!

What is the student lifestyle like in Barcelona?

There are plenty of things to do as a student down here in Barcelona. The students here are friendly and won't shy away from wanting to show you a good time. Again though, it will take a while for some to open up to you.

How much does it cost to live in Barcelona?

The cost of living here is okay. However, the recession of Spain is affecting the lives of many down here. But to get by on the basic necessities such as food and clothes, you should be okay living here.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Barcelona? Is there any advice you can give?

It is very easy to find accommodation here and my suggestion to those planning on visiting Barcelona for a short period of time, I suggest renting an apartment or flat. It's cheaper and you can find many convenient spots with nice views and proximity to subway (or metro) stations.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is pretty good here. Well, the tapas are amazing and you would enjoy famous dishes like fideua (pardon my Catalan) or other delicious choices!

What places would you recommend visiting in Barcelona?

If I were to recommend visiting places in Barcelona, I would recommend Montjuic, Barceloneta, Plaza Catalunya, Plaza Espanya, La Marina, Glories mall, Diagonal de Mar mall, La Maquinista (one of the biggest malls here), Tibidabo, walking along Vila Olympica, Las Ramblas, Diagonal, Arc de Triomf and so much more!

Is it good to eat out in Barcelona? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

You can find good places to eat here in Barcelona. For example, there are a lot of cute places in Diagonal and Gracia. As well, you will find some good spots near side streets that link to Las Ramblas.

Is the nightlife good in Barcelona? Where is good to go?

I haven't been out clubbing lately but from what I've heard from a few friends, the nightlife down here is very lively. One place I would recommend is La Oveja Negra. It is a pub but it is a very lively one.

What advice would you give future students heading to Barcelona?

Any advice I would give students coming down here is to be careful with your belongings, enjoy the city because there is a lot to do, get to know the culture of the city by getting lost in museums or parks, and take lots of pictures! :)
