It is not dificult if you use erasmusu.com orientated for students or local idealista.com. also good option could be couchsurfing.org, people who rent rooms there (in group rent apt barcelona) ask for reasonable prices.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Amazing food! To enjoy local tapas, paella or gaspacho you should really find the good place, as restoraunts do it for tourists everywhere and it is not always perfect. Somewhere hidden in Gracia or Born would be good, there are also lots of good places in Gothico.
