Experience in Barcelona, Spain by Alex
What is the student lifestyle like in Barcelona?
Very free and with many options. You can go for the typical one, but Barcelona offers a wide range of variety in costums, things to do, people to meet...
How much does it cost to live in Barcelona?
I would 600 euros is the minimum to live here.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Barcelona? Is there any advice you can give?
Yes, it's the worst part of this city. It is practically overbooked, so it is hard to find a room for good prices. The good thing is that there is a lot of movement, people coming and going all the time, so you just have to be constantly looking.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The food is mediterranean, but of course you can find anything in such a big city, and a lot of markets!
What places would you recommend visiting in Barcelona?
I would definitly recommend the touristic places, but not at peek hours. And then Raval and Gracia are two very nice neighbourhoods with lots of things to do! Also the park of Montjuic and the Bunkers are a must for the views of the city.
Is it good to eat out in Barcelona? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yes, very good! I would say Flax and Kale, Brunch &co, Cosmo, La Bicicleta, and many more.
Is the nightlife good in Barcelona? Where is good to go?
Depending on the music you like. At the beach you have the touristic ones:
- Pacha
- Opium
- Soho
- Apolo
- Razzmatazz
Also:
Definetly the best! They have a very wide range of music.
In the city center I'd say:
- Jamboree
- Marula
- Boulevard
- Otto
What advice would you give future students heading to Barcelona?
Go for it. Try to meet locals in the class because it's very easy to stay only with all the international people living here, and just explore.
