Erasmus Experience in Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona by Ivo
Why did you choose to go to Barcelona, Spain?
I wanted to learn Spanish, which was my primary reason to go to Spain for an Erasmus. In the end, I learned a lot of Spanish, but picked up some Catalan along the way. Both languages I really enjoyed learning.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I was on a Scholarship for 5 months, for which I received a little bit more than 1100 euros in an Erasmus+ grant.
What is the student lifestyle like in Barcelona?
In Vila Universitària, the student residences of the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona are a very relaxed way to do studying. You're outside of Barcelona, in Cerdanyola del Vallès, which is an average city just outside of Barcelona. In these residences everyone has either an own room or shares a room with one other person. If you're in Vila as an Erasmus-student, you will have tons of room-parties for sure.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Barcelona to other students?
Yes, the city and the UAB are a very cool place to study and be autonomous for the first time. This was the first time experience for me, and I met a lot of cool people and friends there.
