Erasmus Experience in Barcelona, Spain by Manuela
Why did you choose to go to Barcelona, Spain?
Why did I choose Barcelona? Well to be honest it just kinda happened. Prior to my moving to Barcelona, i'd actually never been to Barcelona before. I knew only two things for sure at the time that Barcelona happened, those two things were 1) I wanted to be somewhere beautiful during my bachelor studies, somewhere where I could marvel at things and just smile and have all these happy emotions in me. 2) I wanted that place to be in Europe. I'd grown up my whole life in the states and after graduating i did the daring thing of moving to Rome for a year to study art history. That year has by far been the best year of my life. Moving to Europe showed me a way of life that captivated me and made me truly happy. I was hooked. I had to stay in Europe if I wanted my happiness to continue. I wished to stay in Rome but I also wish to study architecture and unfortunately Rome didn't have any english speaking architecture programs. One thing led to another and I ended up in Barcelona and although I greatly miss Rome I do not regret it because Barcelona is in itself a marvelous city with so much to offer. I feel lonely at times but thats only normal when leaving home or your comfort zone and i; m sure Barcelona will become another home for me soon.
