Why did you choose to go to Barcelona, Spain?

It was a part of my erasmus mundus master program. I was there only for 3 months during my 3rd semester of the program.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I receive category A Erasmus Mundus scholarship for two years to carry out master of Flood Risk Management in Germnay, Nehterlands, Spain (Barcelona) and Slovenia, the scholarship is 1000 euro living allowance per month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Barcelona?

Since its a big and touristy city you'll have lots of opportunities to entertain yourself in Barcelona. There are lots of Erasmus students from different counties in Barcelona as well. Every week different events are going on in the city for different tastes!

Would you recommend the city and the University of Barcelona to other students?

Absolutely! I like it so much, even more than Germany and The Netherlands!

What is the food like?

Perfect! my favorite was the sea food that you kind find every where very easily with reasonable prices. Besides there are lots of local restaurants and cafes around every corner! people eat out mostly in this city.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Barcelona?

It was a bit difficult to find an accommodation for only three months, but finally we found an apartment with three nice bedrooms and shared it together with my other erasmus classmates ;)

How much does it cost to live in Barcelona?

mostly depends on the accommodation, you can find single rooms in shared flats from about 300 euro and up. If you don't go out much and don't eat out much you can manage the food and other costs with around 250 euro.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yesss!! for me it was really easy and also enjoyable, Spanish is really an easy language. But keep in mind that the original language of people in Barcelona is Catalan, so they may not like to talk to you in Spanish (it happened with some of my friends) but anyways it's really nice to learn Spanish and use it .

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Barcelona from your city?

Since its a touristy city, you'll always be able to find cheap flights to Barcelona.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Barcelona?

city center near Placa Catalonia and Ramblas, also near the beach Barcelonatta when the weather is proper. Pretty everywhere! Spanish people love Partying they start to go out at around 1 a.m on Saturdays!!

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Barcelona?

not an specific one. but for sure always try tapas with beer ;) and also the famous paella!

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

a lot of them and they are easy to visit in thanks of public transportation .

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Barcelona in the future?

Don't miss the opportunity to live and study in Barcelona for at least some months! you'll love it!
