Erasmus Experience in Barcelona, Spain by Joana
Why did you choose to go to Barcelona, Spain?
Because the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, where I studied, is very well known. Also because I wanted to learn Spanish and the weather is very good.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
6months. About 1000euros.
What is the student lifestyle like in Barcelona?
Very nice. Lots of different types of party for different types of people.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Barcelona to other students?
Because the weather is great, it is a very nice city to live in and, since there are so many Erasmus students, you can meet many interesting people from all over the world.
What is the food like?
Good, similar to the rest of Spain.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Barcelona?
I booked a students residency before I arrived. I was more or less easy for me to find accomodation, but some of my friends struggled.
How much does it cost to live in Barcelona?
800euros a month, I would say.

Spanish is easy for roman languages speakers (Italian, Portuguese, French). There are not many courses, and they are generally not cheap. There are Catalan courses, though, and they are for free.

From Lisbon - by plane or car.

Near Las Ramblas or by the beach.

Anything by Gaudi.
