Erasmus Experience in Barcelona, Spain by Iisa
Why did you choose to go to Barcelona, Spain?
I wanted to learn how to speak Spanish, and i love the city.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I lived with 2 other girls, and we shared apartment with 3 bedrooms, one living room, kitchen and bathroom. We paid 400 euros/ per person, what includes water and gas. If you want to live with some another students, and only rent 1 room it could be half cheaper. Everything else depends how much you want to shop, travel, party and where you are going to eat.
What is the food like?
Food is awesome. If you make it by your self, it is lot of cheaper than in Finland. Also there is very good street food places and restaurants.
How much does it cost to live in Barcelona?
Depends a lot. How you are spending your money. As a student there is lot of discounts for example when you are going to museos or parties etc.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Language was a bit problem. I wanted to learn spanish, but the university offers only catalan lessons. Catalan is not easy to learn, so i learned only the basic things and couple words of both languages.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Barcelona from your city?
Flying.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Barcelona?
Skate bar called "never mind". very nice place with nice people. Also almost every bar in Gracia or El born are nice.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Barcelona?
Maoz - good and cheap falafel place. Lot of cheap pizza slice places in barri gothic. Also good ramen burger place with other good food called "Marmalade". There is also billiard table and bar.
