Why did you choose to go to Barcelona, Spain?

I pin pointed it on the map because of it's popularity in Europe and because I learnt Spanish in school and got an A*.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I was there for 1 year and I received 450euros a month from the Erasmus program.

What is the student lifestyle like in Barcelona?

I didn't go there to study. I went there to work. Working life there is all about working, and having drinks with friends or colleagues on the weekend, and having a nice time at the beach.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Barcelona to other students?

I went there for a work placement. I only visited the university for a concert that was taking place there.

What is the food like?

The Spanish eat very well and healthy. I enjoyed it to the fullest.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Barcelona?

Yes it did cost me. I had to come here before my placement started to search and view the places as I didn't want to trust making arrangements over the phone.

How much does it cost to live in Barcelona?

300-400 for rent (based on a room in a shared house)
200 for food
50 for transport
100 for social activities
that's just the basics.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The language is not as hard as you may thing, but there are many courses available to take.
Get your self a Spanish housemate and it will help a lot.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Barcelona from your city?

By train, tram and metro with the T-10 ticket that only cost 9.95euros

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Barcelona?

Carpe Dierm, Shoko

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Barcelona?

Nostrum, Chicken, Fosters, Can Valles, Tosca, Pollo Rico

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Sagrada familia - very beautiful cathedral in the center
La Rambla
Monjuic castle

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Barcelona in the future?

Take it as an adventure, enjoy the culture and the people. Be social and meet Spanish people. Don't be afraid to live and learn. The beaches are amazing and shopping there is so much cheaper than the UK.
I would advise anyone to go there.
