Edic's Experience in Barcelona, Spain

What attracts you to living in Barcelona? Do you recommend it? What's it like?

I was in love with Barcelona, I'm now saving to go back haha. It is an AMAZING city, I would love to live there. Would I recommend it? Of course! It is beautiful and has everything: history, architecture, it's modern, a different atmosphere and lots of tourism. It's a really lively city.

What is student life like in Barcelona?

There are lots of young people, but it was Christmas so I can't tell you about the student atmosphere. I couldn't get in touch with any students like in Madrid. But I have been told that there is a unique student atmosphere in Barcelona.

How much does it cost to live in Barcelona?

We paid more money here than in Madrid. My family landed in El Prat airport and we stayed in a very quiet and central hostel. We were there for 4 days but it was worth it.

Was it difficult to find accommodation in Barcelona? Do you have any advice?

No, we didn't have any difficulties. Once again, "Booking.com" came to the rescue and it was really easy. We stayed in two hostels. It's true that it's best to book a place in advance because in Barcelona lots of hostels get booked up very quickly.

What's the food like in Spain? What are your favourite dishes?

We ate at a place on Las Ramblas. There you will find various small, cheap and peaceful restaurants to eat and there's something for everyone's taste.

What places do you recommend to visit in Barcelona?

The Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, the port, Las Ramblas, Cataluña Square and España Square, and most importantly, Camp Nou. It doesn't matter if you don't support Barcelona, you should take the opportunity to visit while you can because you don't know when you will have the chance to go again...

What about eating out in Barcelona? What are your favourite places?

Las Ramblas or near to Cataluña Square.

Which places do you recommend for nightlife in Barcelona?

We didn't go out at night, travelling with a baby can sometimes be a bit complicated and we're also not too fussed about partying. We're interested in travelling as a family and visiting new places.

Do you have any advice for future students in Barcelona?

Continue enjoying this beautiful experience, but be responsible. Barcelona is an alluring city with all the activities on offer. Be curious but responsible and manage your time and money well.
