Alejandro in Spain: My Badajoz Experience

What is it like to live in Badajoz? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's a fairly quiet city with about 150, 000 people. It's well set out as there are great places to shop and pretty places to see. One of the most important celebrations is Carnaval, something you simply have to experience if you come here.

What is the student lifestyle like in Badajoz?

There's a great student atmosphere here in Badajoz as many Erasmus students come from all over the place, and of course, there are the many local students too.

How much does it cost to live in Badajoz?

As it's not a big city it's not an expensive one either. It does still vary depending on where you are in the city.

What places would you recommend visiting in Badajoz?

There are loads of beautiful places in the city: Alcazaba, the cathedral, Puerta de Palmas, La Plaza Alta, pretty much the whole of the Old Town, which also has a lot of history.

Is the nightlife good in Badajoz? Where is good to go?

There are plenty of places to go out in Badajoz. There is a club in the Casino area that is quite big and usually has a good vibe. There are also clubs in the city centre that are great on a Thursday.

What advice would you give future students heading to Badajoz?

Come to Badajoz for sure, especially if you are used to the small city lifestyle as it won't take you long to get used to it here. But, if that's not reason enough, like I said earlier, the Carnaval is simple unmissable.
