At the foot of the Acropolis, there lies the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. It was built in the 2nd century AD, and singers such as Maria Callas gave concerts here.

This stone inscription is a dedication of the city to a Roman ruler (Titus Pompeius Dionysius) who was also a philosopher as it says.

A small temple to Apollon, similar to that in Delphi, completes the picture.

The Theatre of Dionysos is the first known theatre built in the 5th century BC and later built entirely from stone in 330 BC.

Looking back one last time at the Acropolis leaves an impression of its size and might ... its influence made Theodor Heuss, former chancellor of Federal Germany, say that it is one of the hills on which Europe was founded.
