Turkish cuisine (Turkish: Türk mutfağı) is largely the heritage of Ottoman cuisine, which can be described as a fusion and refinement of Central Asian, Caucasian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Balkan cuisines. Turkish cuisine has in turn influence of those and other neighbouring cuisines, including those of Western Europe. The Ottomans fused various culinary traditions of their realm with influences from Middle Eastern cuisines, along with traditional Turkic elements from Central Asia (such as yogurt), creating a vast array of specialities—many with strong regional associations. Today, Turkish cuisine is mainly based on meat and vegetables. While the generous use of spices has declined since Ottoman times, it remains a fragrant and aromatic cuisine, with thyme, mint, allspice, pepper, cumin and cinnamon all featuring prominently.

So, let's meet for a half day course for an amazing journey through the Turkish culture and cuisine. We will prepare a course menu, including classics of the historical Ottoman cuisine and favorites meals of the traditional Turkish home.

We cook for 2 to 3 hours and then enjoy a relaxed lunch or dinner with a glass or two of local wine. The class is hands-on, Chef remaining in charge of quantities and cooking times. We work as a group, dividing the simpler tasks like chopping onions, garlic, tomatoes and herbs, but you will be involved in each vital step of the preparation process so you get enough practice to recreate the same dishes at home.

All our classes are conducted in English. Private classes can be taught in your language if so desired.
