What is it like to live in Algiers? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I would not recommend living in algeria for students as there are really few entertainment, life may be cheaper than is some places but really...it's not worth it, however, the people there are really welcoming and will gladly help you if you need anything

What is the student lifestyle like in Algiers?

few ressources and entretainement, we have some big universities but they are in a pretty bad stat... the governement doesn't take much care about them and as the education is free here, the budget allowed to them is too small to offer better institutions

How much does it cost to live in Algiers?

i don't know exactly but the food here is prettty cheap, you can also find cheap clothing and the bills are ok, the only big cost will be the accommodations

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Algiers? Is there any advice you can give?

it's difficult, i would recommand to try to find some facebooks groups or to use "jumia" some offers are intresting there

The student residence are... in a really bad state...

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food here is good, we have tons of fast foods where you can have very good meals for a very small price but don't expect to find any "bio" or diet meals, it's very expensive and rare here

For what is about the traditional dishes, they are very delicious and you can enjoy many of them like couscous or chorba! but we don't have many restaurant that serve those but i'm sure a lot of algerian families will gladly invite you to dinner it their houses

What places would you recommend visiting in Algiers?

the city center, the old city "Casbah", "Jardin d'essai" à very beautiful garden, some old streets where you can still find old houses from the ottmanian era, also as Algiers is a city built on montagne you can find really beautiful point of views where you can admire the city from above, also the sea is always close by!

Is it good to eat out in Algiers? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

you can find some very delicious food! like in Sidi Yahia, Val d'Hydra or the city center, you can dowload Jumia food, it's an app where you can find most of the restaurant around your area!

Is the nightlife good in Algiers? Where is good to go?

nope... really forget about it... or if you really want i recommand to go with some locals who know where are the "good" places, night clubs here are mostly bad frequented...

What advice would you give future students heading to Algiers?

if you are a girl, especially alone, you will really have a hard time here
