It depends on what you want, but as student you can simply apply for a room in the campus and it's abordable.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

There are many traditional dishes, u should try couscous as a meal and some baklavas or tcharak as sweets.

What places would you recommend visiting in Algiers?

Monuments, beaches and specially el Hama Garden, one of the most beautiful gardens in the world.

Is it good to eat out in Algiers? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yeaaaaah! There are many fast foods, many restaurants satisfying all choices.

Is the nightlife good in Algiers? Where is good to go?
