Vestre Fjord Park

Vestre Fjord Park is the coolest park for the sunny weather in Aalborg. It is basically a city beach, located not so far from the city center, by the fjord and just next to the biggest place with street food in Aalborg. 

It is a city park, so the entrance is completely free and you can bring your own snacks ans drinks (obviously it's Denmark, so drinking alcohol in public is also allowed). You can also find a few benches and tables in the park, if you don't have any blanket to sit on. There is one shop, where you can buy food, drinks, and ice cream but it's rather overpriced. In the summer season there are restrooms, changing rooms, and showers available to use for free.

There are springboards of different height to jump into the water, on the other side there is another swimming pool and areas with sand or grass to sunbath on. On the one side of the pool there are wooden obstacles to climb or jump to the water from. Water itself is from the fjord, so it feels more like a lake or sea than real swimming pool but it's good enough for a hot day, and believe me, if there's sun in Aalborg, people will lay down and try to get some tan wherever it's possible.

On the other side of the park there are a few fields to play volleyball and empty areas to throw freesbee or enjoy other sports. The coolest place in the whole park is the rooftop of the building with shop and bathrooms - it is an area designed as a playground. On the rooftop you can find trampolines and to get down from there you can take a slide, perfect soultion for children but I have seen a few students also having fun there. Personally, it's my favourite summer spot in the city!
