Studenterhuset

Studenterhuset or students' house, as it is called by internationals, is a main point in the city dedicated for students. It is a venue in the city center run by volunteers, which is a cafe and quiet place to study or meet with your group to write a project during the day and it turns into pub or a concert venue in the evening.

When you arrive in Aalborg, you will probably be meeting with your classmates in the students' house from the first weeks of your stay. It's nice and cosy, there are plenty of board games and tables to play pool or table soccer, so you will have fun. It's usually busy and full of students on Wednesdays, so it's also a good place to meet new people. You can also join the team and volunteer as a bartender or in a comittee responsible for events.

Speaking of events, there is something happening every week. Somtimes more known bands are coming to the venue and you need to buy tickets in advance but there are also free concerts, where you can just come and enjoy the music. It is also the place where TEDx talks are being transmitted in the previously chosen themes or you can just come and watch football with your colleagues. 

Drinks are not overpriced but if you don't have Danish credit card, you need to pay with cash. Fortunately studenterhuset is located in the city center, so you can find ATM very quickly. In the area around the building there are many nice cafes and it is also the place where the Christmas Market with its ferris wheel stands each year, and from the other side there is placed outdoor ice rink for the winter.

I would definitely recommend going to the studenterhuset to have fun with your friends or just meet new people, it is fun, cheaper then other pubs, and dedicated especially for students. I know some people that come back there every week to hang out and relax with a beer or five ;)
