Why did you choose to go to A Coruña, Spain?

Coruña wasn't my first choice, but I have to admit that I've been lucky! Probably, staying there was one of the best experiences of my life.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

Even though I stayed there more than 5 months I have recieved only 4 months of scholarship, 230 euros/month.

What is the student lifestyle like in A Coruña?

Erasmus student's lifestyle is probably like everywhere... The Erasmus way of life! You can have a lot of fun but of course, you need to study if you want to pass your exams.

Would you recommend the city and the University of A Coruña to other students?

Of course I do, you won't regret it!

What is the food like?

Galician food is really tasty, they have tapas tradition, you can have delicious small portion of food for quite cheap prices, perfect for students!

How much does it cost to live in A Coruña?

I live in Milan, and I can say that compared to my city living in Coruña was pretty cheap (flat and cost of life especially), but transport wasn't so cheap.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, there are free courses at UDC.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to A Coruña from your city?

As I said, I'm from Milan, so the easiest way is flying with Iberia or Vueling to Coruña (changing in Madrid or Barcelona) but it's not cheap at all, prices are always about 100 euros or even more. The cheapest way is flying with Ryanair to Santiago de Compostela and taking a train after for 7 euros more or less.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in A Coruña?

Well, the city is not that big so usually during a night out, you can change the place often because everything is really close. In Calle Juan Canalejo there are some clubs really nice with free entrance (Studio 54, Grietax, Garibaldi, Lyon, etc) and they close around 5 a. m. On the other side of the harbour you can find Los Cantones, with some discos inside (Pelicano, Amura, Brit... ). Another nice disco on the beach is Moom 57, located on Riazor Beach, but remember that you have to arrive before 5 a. m. if you don't want to pay!

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in A Coruña?

All the centre is full of Taperias, small restaurants where you can have tapas, traditional spanish dish. Galician food is really tasty, so you will easily find everything delicious. One of my favourite was O Brien, in Rua Galera. The most famous taperia in Coruña is La Bombilla, in Rua Torreiro, where you can have galician tapas for only 1 euro.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

For sure, the most important monument in Coruña is Torre de Hércules, a roman lighthouse which is Unesco's heritage. There are also some museums, but my favourite ones were Museo da belas artes da Coruña and Casa de l'hombre. But honestly, think that landscapes are the best sites you could find there. You won't forget those beaches, those sunsets and those colours so easily.
