Walking around trees and animals

So, you decided to visit the capital of Croatia, Zagreb. You have already visited all the important museums, galleries, monuments, etc. But today, the sun is shining soo much that you want to stay outdoors and walk around.

There's nothing better than going for a walk to Maksimir Park and visit the zoo, too, which is located inside the park. To get to Maksimir Park, you can take trams 5, 7, 11 or 12 and get off when you see Zagreb's Dinamo football stadium to your right. Across the street, you will see the big entrance to the park. The entrance is for free, so you can go in and start walking. The park is very big, so don't expect to see it all in one day, you will have to come back again! When the weather is good, you can see a lot of people walking, jogging or just sitting on the benches relaxing and enjoying the sunshine. There are also artificial lakes in the park so you should take a photo there, or just enjoy the sunset while relaxing on the benches.

You should not get tired easily, you continue walking. There are plenty of signs that can help you decide where you want to go. After you walk around the park, follow the signs to the new entrance of the zoo, which is on the east side of the park, and when you get there, make sure you have with you 20 kuna for the entrance and you are ready to go in. It opens from 9 am to 6 pm, however, in wintertime you should check the timetables on the internet, because it may close at 4 or 5 pm.

Currently a big part of the zoo is under construction, but you will be able to walk around and see plenty of animals, such as: lions, wolfs, snakes, camels, crocodiles, seals, hippopotamuses and many more. Don't miss out the house with the monkeys and chimpanzees. You can stay there for hours and just watch the way they behave almost like humans. You will need about one to an hour and a half to walk around the zoo, so for the fee of only 20 kuna, I think it worths the money, in spite of the fact that it is under construction. I think that in March or in April it will be ready, so if you are still in Zagreb, you should go again and see a totally different place.

Enjoy your staying in Zagreb!
