What is it like to live in Sofia? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Well, this is my hometown, so I love it. We have two big parks in the city center, there is an underground so you can reach the center in 10 minutes. We have mountain near by and from there you can see the hole city. The view is great especially in the night.

What is the student lifestyle like in Sofia?

There are a lot of students here. We have a hood called "Student city" so there are a lot of places and discos, everything you need. Almost every night you can find a party event.

How much does it cost to live in Sofia?

Is very cheap especially for the foreigners. If you want to rent apartment in city center... maybe is around 250 euros, in some neighbourhoods are lower. About the food, for example the beer in restaurants and discos is around 1. 5 euros, salad: 2-3 euros, pizza is like 5 euros (big one). :))

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Sofia? Is there any advice you can give?

There are many hostels in the city center. The price is about 10eur/per night. Also for the Erasmus students there is accommodation in the hood near to some of the Universities, and I think is like 100eur/per month (not sure about the price, maybe there is a difference between Bulgarians and foreigners).

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is delicious. We have traditional Bulgarian dishes, you have to try "banitza"- you can eat it for breakfast, "tarator"- which is cold soup with yogurt and cucumber.

Is it good to eat out in Sofia? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are pizza restaurants, traditional food, sea food restaurants, Indian or Chinese food.... I think everything:))

Is the nightlife good in Sofia? Where is good to go?

There are too many bars and discos so you have plenty of choices.

What advice would you give future students heading to Sofia?

My advice is to come! You will love the city! We have hot summer and snowy winter. You can go skiing if you like, it's 40 minutes from the city. Probably you will meet very nice people and friends.
