What is it like to live in Sofia? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I definitely would recommend Sofia to people who enjoy big cities. Here you can always do something, you can stay busy all the time and for sure there are places where you can spend your free time.

What is the student lifestyle like in Sofia?

Well, I guess it depends at which university you are studying, where do you live and what kind of person you are. If you are party animal I would recommend you "Studentski grad" because there is party all the time. Personally I chose to live in another neighbourhood.

How much does it cost to live in Sofia?

It depends whether you pay a rent for an apartment or you pay a rent at the university campus, there is a big difference. Usually, for an apartment with one bedroom, living room and a kitchen the rent is about 250 eur (without bills included), for a room in the campus the rent is about 30 eur (without bills included). The food is not that expensive.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Sofia? Is there any advice you can give?

No, it is not that hard. I would advise you to join facebook groups for erasmus students in Sofia, there are many ofers.
There are real estate agencies as well, which will help you for sure, but you have to pay half of the first rent to the agency.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

In Sofia you can find all kind of food. There is fast food everywhere, there are also places where you can eat cooked dishes on a good price. Especially in "Studentski grad" there is a place to eat at every corner.

What places would you recommend visiting in Sofia?

It is interesting to visit the National Museum of History, Boyana Church, St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral, Vrana Palace and many others.

Is it good to eat out in Sofia? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

I would recommend you Happy restaurants, they are many in Sofia, the food is good and the prices are ok. If you like icecream, I advise you to try Confetti, it is awesome there, they have very nice icecream and many other dishes.

Is the nightlife good in Sofia? Where is good to go?

Yes, the nightlife is very good. In my opinion there are places for everybody, there are clubs with different kind of music - dance, hip-hop, latino, chalga, etc.

What advice would you give future students heading to Sofia?

Try to see as more as you can for the time you are going to spend here! It`s worth it!
