The introduction

Hello everyone, I hope that you all are doing just fine!

Today I want to tell you about my painting and how I had these amazing oil paintings’ setbought in the Netherlands in 2014 while being there for some time for some trainings and stuff like that. It was an amazing experience and I just had a really good time there, at the same time, if you want to know the truth.

Me painting and stuff

Well, it all started while I was still a child, I mean, of course, every child draws something and they just love drawing, I guess. And I used to draw some things, too, and I remember that me and my brother used to draw so many stuff, including our grandparents and neighbours and everything. We have those drawings still saved somewhere, of course, and we used to look at them from time to time, if you want to know the truth, and we used to remember those times when we drew them and we just used to laugh at them. It was pretty cool, you know, drawing all those things, and every drawing has this history and the idea and the main saying and stuff like that, you know. Then we used to go to the drawing lessons and we used to draw some things there and we went there after school. You know, we were pretty little then, I mean, it was our 3-rd or 4-th years at school, if you want to know the truth. Well, we had much fun on those lessons and we learned many things there, too, I mean, about drawing stuff and after some time, we used to draw some still life and when I look at those drawings of mine from that time, I was really good at it, if you ask me. Well, then we used to paint in watercolours and I had a couple of lessons in painting in watercolours, however, then we stopped going there for the painting lessons, because we went to another school, which was further and we didn’t have much time for going there on painting lessons, because we went to those Georgian National Dance lessons in that school and then we used to go home and prepare our lessons, so that my painting lessons were done at that time.

Anyways, I still used to draw and paint some stuff, and I just taught myself into it, I guess. And as this guy says in a movie called “The Art of Getting By” _ “you gotta exercise the muscle”, so that I didn’t stop drawing and painting and I used to paint in my free time and I used to draw some portraits and landscapes and stuff like that, I had my mother’s and grandfather’s and sister’s and my aunt’s portraits drawn and they have kept it in our house. There was this exhibition once and me and my brother had our paintings and drawings exhibited there and there were many people there and the TV and stuff and we were even interviewed and stuff like that. And there’s this Youth House in our town, where there were exhibitions and my paintings were exhibited there for a couple of times, too. So, I guess, my drawings and paintings were not that bad after all. And my family members and friends and teachers were encouraging me to paint and it was a great thing to do from them, if you want to know the truth, because if there were not them, I could have stopped painting and done something else, of course. They were buying me those painting stuff and things like that, you know.

Anyways, once my aunt bought me those oil painting tubes and I had them for some time unopened, because I didn’t know how to use them. There was this teacher at our school, she had amazing paintings and she taught children art. She painted in oil on canvases and I was going to go to her and ask to teach me some stuff about painting in oil, however, then it was time for graduation and moving to Tbilisi and things were left that way. Then, after some time, I found out, that my aunt’s neighbor in Tbilisi was an artist and he painted in oil on canvas and sold them, so that we asked him where to buy those canvases and stuff like that and he was glad to help us out. He told us exactly where and how to buy those prepared canvases and oil painting tubesand all those necessary things for oil painting and I just couldn’t wait to go there and buy those stuff.

After that, I just started painting in oil, however , I had no idea of how to do that. I mean, I knew some things, that I should dissolve that paint in oil and put it on canvas , however, there are many things to consider while painting on canvas, of course, and I didn’t really know that much. despite that, I started painting and then I used to google some things and I realized, that I could watch some tutorial videos of how to paint in oil on Youtube and there were some pretty useful videos, if you want to know the truth. So that, I learned a few things about painting in oil on canvas and my works got better and better. Now I have about 20 paintings or so and I have gifted some other painting to friends and relatives, too, and people like my paintings, if you want to know the truth and they tell me to continue that way. However, I think, that my techniques need much improvements and I try hard to do that and have my own style somehow, because when you have your own style, it means, that you’re an artist, if you ask me.

Anyways, let me tell you about that Van Gogh’s painting tubes and how I got them.

How it all started

Well, to be honest, I saw this post on Facebook of some organization, that there were some trainings about human rights and personal development and stuff like that in the Netherlands in November 2014, so I got interested in that and applied for it and they chose me and so that I was going to go to the Netherlands in November 2014 and it was pretty exciting and stuff like that. And while preparing for it, my father bumped into my painting teacher somewhere and they talked and when he told  my teacher that I was going to the Netherlands, he told him to tell me, that I should buy oil painting tubes there, because the “real oil paints colours” are known to be in the Netherlands. That’s when my father told me that thing and that’s when I started looking for the painting sets to be somewhere in the Netherlands where I could buy them. I searched the Internet to find out about the painting shops there and where they had those painting stuff and things like that. And while those trainings were supposed to be in Ommen, I was searching for some painting shops there, of course, and then I searched them in Amsterdam, too. I was really glad, when I found out, that there was this shop in Ommen, where they had some painting sets and they had this Van Gogh painting set, too, which was really pretty on the picture. Though it didn’t say how much it cost, but it didn’t really matter at that time, the thing was that I could go there and buy it when I got there. So that, I was relaxed and everything, because I knew, that I would definitely buy some painting stuff in Ommen and I wouldn’t have to look for it there and ask people around about painting stuff and bother about that. I knew exactly where that shop was, so that when I had a chance I would go there and take a look and see what else they had and things like that, you know. Everything was just great and I was pleased with my googling and the resultsthat I got and everything, if you want to know the truth.

So, me and some other girls flew to the Netherlands and went to the trainings center.  It was an evening when we arrived there, so that we had dinner and went to our rooms to sleep. The next day was kind of a day off and we went to sightsee the town and go to some places and take pictures.

First of all, we went to the riverside and walked to the woods and saw those mills and the ship and everything. Then we went to the town center, where there were many things, including some bazaars. They had all those flowers and plants and clothes and fruits and vegetables and some really delicious cheese out there. It was really awesome walking there. However, I just had my google maps on and I wanted to visit that shop, where I knew, that they had those Van Gogh painting set and maybe some other stuff, too. So, finally, we went nearby it and I saw the shop and immediately recognized it and went in. it was a large book shop, mostly, however, they had many other stuff, too, and I just looked around and looked at every little thing there. I even bought some books about the Netherlands, however , many of those stuff was in Dutch, so that I couldn’t read them and I didn’t buy them , hence.

Well, anyways, there they were _ the painting tubes and stuff like that! I had found them and I was really glad about it. there were oil tubes all over the place and some acrylic stuff and some painting sets and brushes and everything. It was amazing. And there were these two sets of Van Gogh, one of them was acrylics and the other was oil paintings set. Well, I hadn’t painted in acrylics, so that I wouldn’t buy them, however, my aim was to buy some oil tubes, so that I decided, that since it was a set, I would buy that Van Gogh oil painting set, moreover, they had a discount on it. however, it had this case, where those painting stuff was, so that it was pretty much heavy and I wondered if I could fit it into my bag. Though it was my decision to buy oil painting tubes there, so that I wanted to buy that thing no matter how I would take it back to Georgia.

So, that other day, I went shopping and I visited that shop , too, to buy that painting set. I was pretty excited, if you want to know the truth. So, I bought it and let them have it wrapped like a Christmas gift or something like that, because it was late November and every shop had these Christmas stuff and people were getting ready for the holidays and they were already buying some gifts for Christmas, so that I thought, that I would have it wrapped, too, however, it was for me, you know.

When I returned to the trainings center, there were some of the guys outside smoking cigarettes and when they saw me carrying some stuff, they were like “oh, did you go shopping?”and I told them that I used to paint in oil and I had bought some oil painting tubes and stuff like that.

Well, that’s how I got this Van Gogh painting set and I’m really satisfied with my choice. They have this distinguished colour, if you want to know the truth, and they are pretty much different than those ones that I use to paint with. So, if you want to buy any painting stuff, you can buy those Van Gogh company stuff, because they are really worth it!
