Why did you choose to go to Brno, República Checa?

I had curiosity about Czech Republic and always wanted to study and live abroad. Erasmus gave that to me and Brno made my choice even better. It's a beautiful city with a lot to see and learn.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My scholarship last the entire semester. I receoved around 900€ which was 80% of my scholarship, the rest I received when I came back to Portugal.

What is the student lifestyle like in Brno?

It's great, you meet a lot of new and foreign people, share new experiences and learn a bunch of stuff. Getting in contact with different cultures it's great and essencial too, it makes you understand better somethings about other countries and their costumes.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Brno to other students?

Yes, it's a great choice and Masaryk is a great university

What is the food like?

It's pretty good, I enjoyed it a lot

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Brno?

I stood in the student residence (Vinarska)

How much does it cost to live in Brno?

Living in Brno ain't that expensive. For food and water supplies I spent around 100 CZK per week (around 8€, much cheaper than Portugal). When you go out at night, beer is not that expensive: half a liter is around 60CZK. I don't know that total amount that I've spent, but I also travelled a lot and bought some extra stuff, but I assure you that for the essentials (and party too) you can manage pretty well.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?

I only had czech course for a week, on the university they speak english so no problem. Older people usually don't speak english so you might want to learn some key words to get around.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Brno from your city?

I went by plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Brno?

There are a lot of places to go, when you get there you'll find it. The one that you get to know immediately in 7nebe but there are others too.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Brno?

There are pretty good places in the city center but not only, I don't really remember anyone in particular anymore.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

You can get to know almost all Czech Republic with the ISC MU Brno and also go to other countries. They've pretty good services to erasmus students.

Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Brno?

I really hope that you enjoy your stay there, it's worth it. You'll make friendships for life. Don't mind the cold, you'll get use to it and make your experience count. Good luck to you all!
