Intro

Everybody who knows me, knows that I am totally addicted to movies and TV serials and shows, I always keep me updated with the latest movies, best of box office and I always know what the newest updates or release dates are. Basically, I saw all the box office movies out there, now of course it must be my own style and pick, for example i will never watch SF (science fiction) or super natural, paranormal and out of this earth movies, those are not my style. I rather prefer dramas, romantic comedies and movies based on true stories, documentaries and horror ones. And my top fave are shark movies, I am totally addicted to those. Same thing with serials I watch a bunch of them and totally keeps me busy daily, is like another full time job besides my regular one. One time I count and per week I watch over 20 serials and TV shows. Some they say I am crazy but this is like my hobby and all in all I rather do this that go to the gym or other stuff, if you know what I mean.

For sure out there are still persons like me and for those ones I will start writing this blog and give you guys some ideas and tips of some movies and serials I watch on a regular basis. So this particularly post I will write about some Turkish movies, one of the best I have seen and my top 3 serials I am addicted to, all from Turkey.

Best Turkish Serials

One year ago when I came to Turkey for my double Erasmus, studies and internship, because of the boredom and plenty of full time on my hands I decided to start watching some Turkish serials. Also my mum is watching in Romania some Turkish ones since the Turks bought one TV channel and brought movies and serials into our broadcasting. Actually the Romanian population especially women went crazy for Turkish serials and everybody was recommending me. Watch this and that, so I said I will start one to see how it is. Of course first I check just the first episode see how it is and if it's good than I make a full commitment with myself and close myself inside my room and spend nights and days non stop watching the series I might love.

So I made a top 3 ranking of my favourite series I have seen so far since I am in Turkey.

1. Suleyman the Magnificent

This one is the one for the books, it is an historical, it relates true events about the life of Suleyman sultan, his two wives and the drama regarding the harem, plus some scenes from the battle field and all his conquers. I remember I have watched first episode some time ago but I was not interested to give it a try. In Romania everybody went crazy after this series so when I came to Turkey I said I need to watch this so called docu-series.

It has 4 seasons and one season is around 30 something episodes with one episode about 2 hours and half. This is a full commitment if you want to watch the entire series. Since last year when I started I am still at beginning of season 3, so I have many more episodes still. But between my daily serials and then another Turkish series I watch my schedule is full. But I plan in the nearest future to finish it.

The story got me so hooked up that the first 2 seasons I was eyes wide open to my laptop 24/7. The drama in the harem it's right up my alley so I bet around 80% of the audience are women. But I highly recommend it!

2. Kara Sevda (Endless Love)

This is a new series I just discovered it and i totally love it. So far there is only one season but season 2 is about to start in September. First season is 39 episodes and same 2 hours and some per episode. Now this is a cool thing about the Turkish series, all episodes are over 2h long which is totally worth your time, rather than watch those 42 minutes and wait another week for a new episode.

About the series, is a romantic drama starting my favourite Turkish actor, Burak Ozcivit, a lot of drama surrounding his love to a girl and her wealthy and powerful family. If you are a fan of plenty of drama then is a great series and Burak is so hot so totally an A+.

3. Aski Memnu (Forbidden love)

My top 3 and my least favourite from my list is Ask i Memnu which I think is same as popular as "Suleyman" and became quite popular series abroad. Starting a young women who marries an old and rich business man. Same as "Kara Sevda" plenty of drama surrounding his family and children.

The main character, the woman, is having an affair with the nephew of her husband so yeah it's a twisted plot. But is a good drama with around 90 episodes long as usual so it's worth a try!

There are of course many more other series which are better than my top 3 but I still couldn't find time to discover more but just in case here are a list of some who other persons swear by :

  • Ezel
  • Fatmagul 'un Sucu ne (sorry for my Turkish)
  • Oyle Bir Gecer zaman ki
  • Kuzey guney

Best Turkish movies

I have seen plenty of Turkish movies since I am here and I love the plot. I watch especially the romantic comedies and the drama ones. They put so much soul into making this movies that when you are watching you actually feel a strange feeling of belonging to the story itself, strange! I have seen over 20 or more movies and I will gave you a top 10 of my ultimate favorites. For some of them it can be an issue to find subtitles but for those I will recommend you guys there are subs English or also other languages, so you are cover.

First part his travelling to Antalya in a road trip so many adventures and great laugh until the end. Second part I guess his respecting his grandmother last wishes in order to get a family, a job and become a respectable person. In the third part he is dealing with his niece on a serious of adventures as he works now in an advertising company. And now my ultimate favourite movie since I am in Turkey. My favourite pick of actors, Burak Ozcivit and Murat Boz (famous singer and actor) who play the story of 2 brothers after the death of their father. A road trip throw Turkey, a girl journalist and a serious of events and adventure. Comedy more than romance, super cool movie, one of the best out there. It came out last year so it's pretty new.
